Dear Father:

Kindly note this link to the upcoming 2015 World Meeting of Families in Philadelphia about a year from today – September 22-27, 2015

With the theme: Love is our Mission: The Family Fully Alive, this international gathering is meant to stress the centrality of Christ's love in the animation of family life.  We are all keenly aware of the many challenges we face: working to support each child so they have a mom and a dad, creating bonds of love among family members, assisting couples in troubled relationships, working sensitively with those who disagree that marriage is between one man and one woman, handling with care our family members who live with their partners outside the sacrament of marriage, and facing the plight of human trafficking, which denigrates so many women and vulnerable young. The challenges are many.

Yet as our Pope Emeritus Benedict XVI so succinctly noted, "Those who believe are never alone."  The doorway to faith begin with our expressions and convictions about the unique and powerful love of Jesus Christ.

I hope you will begin to discuss with your local parish leadership what it might take for you to send a little delegation to this event and then return ready to build up family life back here in the Diocese of Yakima.
