carmelites

Secular Order Discalced Carmelites are men and women in the Catholic Church who are called, by vocation, to a deeper spiritual life.  Under the protection of Our Lady of Mount Carmel and inspired by St. Teresa of Avila, St. John of the Cross, and St. Thérèse of Lisieux; we make a commitment to the Discalced Carmelite Order to seek God, to pray for the Church and the world.  The Secular Order Carmelite longs to seek God through prayer, to find Him, and to share Him with others.

Secular Order Discalced Carmelites belong to a local group or a larger canonically-established community within the California, Arizona Province of Discalced Carmelites.

We meet monthly, and this is an important obligation.  Meetings provide for initial and on-going formation in the writings of our great Carmelite tradition and in the tradition of our Catholic faith through the study of Church documents.  These serve to provide a deepening awareness of how to live out our vocation in fellowship and mutual support for the Church, our Order, and one another.

The Secular Discalced Carmelite’s of the Sacred Heart Group at St. Joseph’s Parish, Kennewick, invites men and women, between eighteen and sixty-nine years of age and in good standing with the Church, to begin praying now to know if God is calling you to this vocation.   Please feel welcomed to attend our open house invitation!  An informational luncheon meeting will be held on:

Saturday, May 16th, at noon in the music room of the annex. (entrance on 4th Ave.)

RSVP if attending to Carol LeCompte, 509-582-5011 or Cindy Hiltwein, 509-588-3009
