  •     Catholicism first came to Central Washington in 1847.
  •     The Diocese of Yakima was created on June 23, 1951, by Pope Pius XII.
  •     The new diocese was formed from the territory of the Archdiocese of Seattle and the Diocese of Spokane.
  •     The Diocese of Yakima serves 41 parishes in 7 counties.
  •     The original diocesan newspaper began as Our Times in 1959.

October 27/28: ACA Education Weekend

Dear Fathers and Parish Staff,

The Annual Catholic Appeal launched last weekend October 20, & 21, 2012. I urge you to carefully review the check off list for the Education Weekend October 27 & 28, 2012. Assure to call your Lay Witness Speaker and go over logistics. Sample Lay Presenter Talk see pages 13-14 in the Manual. (Attached)

October 27/28: Education Weekend (Check Off List)

___ Assure Posters are displayed. (Were handed out during Convocation)

___ Insert Pastor Letter in Parish Bulletin. (Attached)

___ Pastor/Associate Pastor Introduce Lay Witness Person.

___ Use ACA suggested Prayers of the Faithful at all Masses.

___ Place announcements in bulletin and make pulpit announcements at all Masses.

___ Confirm with those who will distribute in-pew pledge envelopes and pencils at each Mass. If these are not going to be hand distributed, then, assure that the pencils are inserted in all in-pew envelopes during the week before Pledge Weekend. Note: Do not place in pews until November 3 & 4 on Pledge Weekend.
