Our History

  •     Catholicism first came to Central Washington in 1847.
  •     The Diocese of Yakima was created on June 23, 1951, by Pope Pius XII.
  •     The new diocese was formed from the territory of the Archdiocese of Seattle and the Diocese of Spokane.
  •     The Diocese of Yakima serves 41 parishes in 7 counties.
  •     The original diocesan newspaper began as Our Times in 1959.

October 20/21: ACA Announcement Weekend

 

 Dear Fathers and Parish Staff:

 October 20/21: Announcement Weekend (Check List)

  •        Assure Posters are displayed. (Were handed out during Convocation)
  •        ACA Audio CD in Spanish & English. (Were handed out during Convocation)
  •        Place announcements in bulletin and make pulpit announcements at all Masses.
  •        Use ACA suggested Prayers of the Faithful at all Masses.
  •        Assure that the parish has sufficient Annual Catholic Appeal materials: i.e., in-pew Pledge envelopes, pencils,
           etc. Note: Do not place in pews until November 3 & 4 on Pledge Weekend)
  •        Call the Witness Speaker and go over logistics for the coming weekend. (Education Weekend October 27 & 28)
