Online Sacramental Catechesis Resources

Dear Friends:

Last week I was struck by the fact that both the priests of Yakima and the catechists in the Diocese of Yakima expressed interest in sacramental catechesis.  Priests are concerned that "readiness" for sacramental reception takes a wide variety of forms in terms of requirements for preparation.  Within the Diocese of Yakima, parishes have widely differing expectations of parents for sacramental preparation.  Some of our clergy claim that some of our lay folks go to the parish with the easiest requirements.  From the catechists I hear that lay folks often resist preparation because they do not have a felt need.  Often sacraments are more of a time for basic evangelization rather than in-depth catechesis.  Here are some on-line resources provided by the USCCB on teaching about the Sacraments: Sacramental Catechesis
