Our History

  •     Catholicism first came to Central Washington in 1847.
  •     The Diocese of Yakima was created on June 23, 1951, by Pope Pius XII.
  •     The new diocese was formed from the territory of the Archdiocese of Seattle and the Diocese of Spokane.
  •     The Diocese of Yakima serves 41 parishes in 7 counties.
  •     The original diocesan newspaper began as Our Times in 1959.

Holy Names Sisters Mass September 22, 2012

Holy Names Sisters have been at Marie Rose House, Wapato, for 20 years, and we're giving thanks on Saturday Sept 22, 2012, with an open house at 3:00 p.m. and a bilingual Parish Mass at 5:00, Bishop Joseph Tyson presiding. Come give thanks with us. Sisters Mary Ann Hereres, Marina Rose Parisi, and Mary Ellen Robinson are among the Sisters you can meet and greet there.  712 S. Simcoe Ave. Wapato.
