Our History

  •     Catholicism first came to Central Washington in 1847.
  •     The Diocese of Yakima was created on June 23, 1951, by Pope Pius XII.
  •     The new diocese was formed from the territory of the Archdiocese of Seattle and the Diocese of Spokane.
  •     The Diocese of Yakima serves 41 parishes in 7 counties.
  •     The original diocesan newspaper began as Our Times in 1959.

Important Meeting for Pastors/Bookkeepers

Registration Form due by Monday, September 3

If you register before Monday, August 20 your name will be entered in a raffle.

Dear Pastors/Bookkeepers,

This is an important meeting for you to attend on Friday, September 21 to make sure your input is included. We will also be sharing the Annual Catholic Appeal schedule for 2012 - 2013.

When: Friday, September 21

Time: 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM

Location: Holy Family Parish (Gathering Hall)

Registration – Attending and completing registration form will give you the opportunity to win door prizes.

The meeting will be led by Bishop Tyson and facilitated by Jim Perko, Chief Financial Officer and coordinated by Alma Benítez, Director of Stewardship and Development.

Please complete the Registration Form as soon as possible.  This will help us coordinate and accommodate everyone.
