Dear Fathers:

At the last meeting of the executive committee of our Yakima presbyteral council, I made mention of the fine talks given to the full body of bishops during last week's meeting of the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops on the topic of "Religious Liberty."  I hope these talks give you a sense of the deep and robust conversations that are occurring – not only when the cameras are rolling for the live EWTN coverage – but behind closed doors.  As many of you know I am privileged to serve as a member of the 40-member administrative committee where many of these concepts are debated and framed in a theological and spiritual context.  Click here to read the texts of these fine talks.  Thank you for your prayers for us.
